2 to 2 ¼ sifted all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground ginger
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¾ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
¼ cup molasses
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine flour and ginger, salt, baking soda and cinnamon. Sift. Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy, add egg and molasses and beat well. Stir in flour mixture. Shape teaspoonfuls of dough into small balls. Roll in granulated sugar and bake at once on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes. Cool. Store in airtight container. Makes 4 to 5 dozen cookies.
